Join docents on a 5-8 mile ramble exploring & learning about a different part of the preserve each month. Discover hidden blooming meadows, wildlife in an extraordinary oak woodland environment with other like-minded people on a moderate hike. These outings are “more walk and less talk” than the topic specific hikes. Your experienced DCH docent/guides have extensive general knowledge about the Deer Creek Hills Preserve and will speak to what is discovered along the edge of well traveled cattle paths and what is of interest to guests.
Bring your walking sticks, camera and curiosity, wear layered clothing and appropriate foot wear for the weather conditions. Don't forget to pack a water supply, lunch & high energy snacks in a day-pack, for a wonderful morning of wandering among the oaks of Deer Creek Hills, the Sacramento area’s largest open space reserve.
