Volunteer Project

November 20, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
volunteers working in a garden

Help improve Camp Pollock! Join us at the 11 acre, former Boy Scout Camp, located on the American River just north of downtown Sacramento. Volunteers will team up with SVC staff to accomplish tasks including: painting, planting, weed eradication, construction, cleaning, fence building, mopping, outreach, native plant garden maintenance and more.

This Friday we will be focusing on the native plant garden in the courtyard, and cleaning up brush and logs near the caretaker area and future native plant nursery!

Bring your own work gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, water and snacks. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, a hat, and dress in layers. A comfortable well-fitting mask is highly recommended to help prevent breathing in dry plant debris, especially since this workday will include raking and blowing dry leaves.

Every participant must print, sign, and bring their Release of Liability form. All youth must be accompanied by their guardian. Please register below by 6pm Thursday, so we can plan our volunteer projects accordingly. Volunteers will be notified by email if the event is canceled. Rainy conditions will also cancel Service Project.

If you would like to coordinate a group service day or have questions, please contact us at outreach@sacramentovalleyconservancy.org or 916-612-3719.

COVID-19 exposure and illness prevention

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, tools will be assigned to each volunteer. Stay at least 6 feet away from other volunteers. Always wear your mask when you must be in close proximity to others or when indoors. Group sizes will be limited. Avoid touching your face.

Review the most recent Sacramento County Public Health Order, the most up to date CDC recommendations and adhere to any other mandated directives for your place of residence as well as Camp Pollock (Sacramento County).

If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID 19 or experiencing these symptoms, please stay home. SVC has a lease to manage Camp Pollock until 2048… there will be plenty of opportunities in the future if you are unable to attend this event.
