Riparian Habitat Restoration Project

November 13, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free
Deer Creek Hills Preserve sun through oak tree

You’re invited to help Sacramento Tree Foundation and Sacramento Valley Conservancy staff plant native riparian tree and shrub species at a location we’ve deemed “Buckeye Flat” within Deer Creek Hills Preserve. Located approximately 1-mile northeast from the Corral, along Crevis Creek, this site is already inhabited by a small grove of mature buckeyes (a rarity in the Preserve) and an ideal location for reestablishing riparian species that undoubtedly existed in the past.

Volunteers will meet SVC staff at the Corral and walk to the restoration site at 9am. Participants will be asked to stay until 1pm or project completion, whichever comes first. Tools, work gloves, water and light snacks will be provided. Pants and closed-toed shoes required, multiple layers suggested for cold morning temperatures.

Space is limited to 15 volunteers. RSVP by 6pm Friday. Contact Marshall mgorham@sacramentovalleyconservancy.org for more information.
